At the end of 2008, we, a family of five, moved from the Bernese Oberland to Valais for our job. Deep in the Val d'Anniviers, more precisely in Zinal, we found our new professional challenge and our new home. The mountain world was our new home - we were thrilled!
But after a while, we missed our garden in Spiez. Why not combine the mountains and the plains - we thought, and we went looking for a piece of land in the Sierre region (in Zinal, nothing grows except rhubarb!). We didn't find an allotment garden, but a vineyard!
Before acquiring the 2500 m2 of vines, we asked experienced winegrowers if it was really manageable (in addition to work and family). All (i.e. almost all) answered: of course, great, do it - even if it's a "bit" crazy! Yes, and that's how our small wine estate in the Vallon de la Lienne (commune of Ayent) was born: Domaine Val'Dingue.
In 2013, we bottled the first vintage of Pinot Blanc. In 2018, we added Pinot Noir. In 2019, Johannisberg and Merlot. Today, we operate a modest vineyard of 4000m2. Aléa, a trained winegrower and future oenologist, combines her know-how with our love of nature, which always gives rise to exciting discussions. Welcome and be part of our story!
A CRAZY PROJECT
THE DOMAIN
A completely crazy family story between mountain hotels and hillside viticulture.
Inspired leadership
Our wine journey was greatly enriched by the advice and know-how of Flurina's brother, whose experience was invaluable to us.
Today, it is Flurina who leads each step with passion and expertise.
Respect for nature
We firmly believe in environmentally friendly viticulture. Our practices are designed to work in harmony with nature, using exclusively products accepted in organic farming. This respect for biodiversity is at the heart of our philosophy.
A seasonal job
The maintenance of our vines is punctuated by the seasons of our hotel. We devote ourselves fully to our vines from May to June, during which time we ensure their health and growth. Then, from September to November, we immerse ourselves in cellar work.
Our vineyards are not just rows of vines lined up. They form a real little green paradise. Among the vines, strips of olive trees, almond trees, peach trees, various plants and roses flourish, creating a mosaic of colors and scents.
At the heart of this haven of peace, a charming yellow house stands, adding a touch of warmth and conviviality. When our visitors come to discover our estate, they do not only find vines, but a real immersive experience in a calm and enchanting place. It is a place where each visit becomes a moment of serenity and pleasure, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
OUR GREEN PARADISE
A STORY OF FRIENDSHIP
Our wines are the result of a wonderful collaboration with Bertrand Caloz of La Colline de Daval. Bertrand and his team helped us a lot, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, generously sharing their expertise and passion.
Over the years, this collaboration has transformed into a true friendship, marked by a constant exchange of know-how and mutual respect. It is thanks to these precious links that we have been able to raise the quality of our wines, while cultivating rich human relationships.
IN THE VINEYARDS
THE CONTINUATION ...
The passion for wine continues to flourish in our family with our daughter Aléa, who is preparing to take over the estate. Currently studying oenology in Changins, Léa has inherited our love of viticulture. Initially, she trained as a medical assistant, but her desire to work outdoors quickly brought her back to her roots.
She then undertook a new apprenticeship in viticulture, finding in the land and the vines a natural vocation. We are proud to see Léa embracing this family tradition with such enthusiasm and skill, thus ensuring that our commitment to wine and nature will endure through the generations.
